This painting was part of an experiment I did recently. As someone with very little training, I don't know what's going to come out on canvas any of the occasions I do actually paint. This time, I wanted to increase the risk further by painting the whole thing live from start to finish, while discussing art's relation to risk.
My logic goes like this:
Someone who's job it is to paint a thousand paintings exactly the same is not an artist. They are a painter. An artist, to me and to Seth Godin, is someone who takes risks for the sake of discovery. Without a lot of great materials, training, or even a complete plan of what I wanted the final painting to look like, hitting the "go live" button on Facebook was a littler nerve-racking. Nonetheless, I did... and this painting happened.
Challenge yourself. Take a leap into the unknown. Good luck!
